For exemplary services towards social welfare of the underprivileged, security and peace keeping, Lt. Gen. Rajender Singh, the CEO of DLF Foundation, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at Global CSR Excellence and Leadership Awards held at CSR Conclave in Mumbai.
The Lt. General won several accolades during his four decades of exemplary service and even headed the largest arm of the Indian Army as the Director General of Infantry. Right on top of his numerous prestigious national and international assignments was being the Force Commander of the United Nations Peace Keeping Forces in Ethiopia & Eritrea from 2004 to 2006—an honour only 12 Indians have had since independence.
Lt. General Singh also played a vital role in expanding DLF Foundation’s outreach in its infancy in 2009. He is known to have guided the Foundation through its initial stages into one of India’s leading CSR initiatives.
On receiving the award from Shri Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Lt. Gen. Rajender Singh expressed his observations and views on sustainable growth- “To sustain growth in the long-term, there is a call for action from businesses in India to go beyond the aspect of mitigating their personalized impacts. The country needs them to play a more important role in equitable and inclusive socio-economic development of the country. Businesses should utilize their management expertise and investments in innovation through research and development to address issues aligned to the national priorities. The topmost contribution could be in the area of skilling and up skilling of the population, particularly women and youth. Another major area for intervention is Education and quality education right from the primary level. Following Education is quality and affordable healthcare because it is pertinent that our human resources from different social strata are leading a healthy life”, he said.
