Empowering Tribal Students through Digital Learning, Communication and Employability Skills

Access to smartphones and the internet is on the rise, however, many students in tribal & rural areas still lack fundamental computer skills, digital literacy, AI awareness, professional communication, and employability skills. As the job market becomes increasingly digital and AI-driven, rural and tribal youth are at a risk of being left behind. It is therefore urgent and critical to equip them with the skills needed for higher education, employment, entrepreneurship, and participation in the digital economy.

We have recently initiated “The Empowering Tribal Students through Digital Learning, Communication, and Employability Skills” project serving ~330 tribal students at Ashrams and Government Schools in the Palghar District of Maharashtra. The Project aims to bridge the digital divide among tribal youth by providing essential modern workplace skills. This is planned through structured training modules that provide practical instruction in basic computer operations including MS Office, internet & email functions to high-end digital working tools. Additionally, the curriculum will also introduce artificial intelligence and help develop spoken English and interview readiness training and grooming them in both technical and soft skills.
