The programme started as part of an initiative to provide for 300 differently-abled, underprivileged people at India Gate, New Delhi. It was later extended to reach over 1,200 children, where freshly cooked meals were provided to them at DLF Shiksha Progressive Schools.
As part of DLF’s partnership with the Delhi Government’s Bhagidari programme – ‘Aapki Rasoi’, we provided free mid-day meals to around 300 homeless, differently-abled people at a temporary hutment site at India Gate Lawns on Mansingh Road, New Delhi. The programme was extended to Swapna Sarthak Schools run by us. Over 1,600 children, who were engaged in activities like rag-picking, working on roadside dhabas or as domestic servants and never had the opportunity to attend schooling, got a healthy cooked mid-day meal along with free education. In addition to providing nutritious food for at least one meal to these children, this programme provided a powerful incentive to them to continue their schooling and helped in maintaining high retention levels in our educational initiatives.
