An initiative by Tabono Sports in association with DLF Foundation
The 3rd Edition of HDFC Bank Millennium City Marathon held in Gurugram witnessed more than 5,000 participants. The marathon saw participation from across age groups, numerous senior citizens as well as youngsters. It was a joint initiative by Tabono Sports & Events and DLF Foundation.
Millennium City Marathon was an initiative to bring the diverse people of Gurugram together on a platform of health to create awareness about the importance of fitness and above all, to feel a part of the same city that is home to all of us. Almost 50% of the participants from the 5 km run category were first-time runners. This goes to prove that more and more people are taking up running as a part of their fitness regime.
The marathon, which took place from DLF Cybercity to Golf Course Road via the newly built underpass route, witnessed participants running various categories of distances: 5 km, 10 km, 21 km (half marathon) and 42 km (Full Marathon). Gurgaon Police Commissioner Sandeep Khirwar inaugurated the event.
Leading corporate houses from Gurugram participated in huge numbers. The event saw participation from eminent people such as Jasmeet Singh Anand, Zonal Head (Gurugram) - HDFC Bank, Smita Banga – Branch Banking Head & e-Commerce - India HDFC; Vaishali Sinha, Director, ReNew Power (who ran 10 km & 5 km respectively); Arindam Haldar, CEO - SRL Diagnostics ran 5 km, and Col Prakash Tewari, Executive Director - DLF Foundation, ran 10 km.
Col Prakash Tewari said, “DLF Foundation firmly believes in the cause of a healthy and disease-free Gurugram. In today’s sedentary lifestyle, health has taken a backseat for all of us. Such marathons play an instrumental role in making people aware of a healthy lifestyle.”
