On the sidelines of the event, an interactive Q&A session was conducted by the Medanta team. The participants who responded correctly were given medical kits. These consisted a sample collection set, a microscope to spot larvae in the sample, oil to kill the larvae, and a mosquito repellent.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr Aakash Ohri, Senior Executive Director - DLF5, said, “The threat of dengue is real and we have seen several cases not only in Gurugram but Delhi-NCR as well. It is only through such initiatives that people can be made aware of how to stay safe and keep the surroundings clean in order to prevent dengue and other water-borne diseases. We are thankful to DLF Foundation and Medanta for their support in organising Mission Stop Dengue at DLF5. I am sure of similar enthusiastic participation in the rest of DLF5 condominiums in the coming weeks.”
Echoing similar thoughts, Mr Vinay Sahni, CEO - DLF Foundation, added, “The aim of the mission is to prevent the spread of dengue. I urge everyone to come forward and join hands with us in spreading awareness which can help prevent the spread of this mosquito-borne disease. We are looking forward to taking Mission Stop Dengue to maximum number of people to ensure dengue prevention and control.”
Yogesh Saini, a resident of DLF Park Place, said, “It was a great experience to be a part of this session. The best thing about the event was that there are numerous home remedies that can be used to tackle dengue that we were not aware of. We look forward to similar initiatives in the future.”
Mrs. Radhika Chand of DLF Park Place said, “The interactive session made the whole experience extremely interesting and informative. A big thumbs up to the teams of DLF Foundation, Medanta and DLF5 for such a great initiative.”
So far, over 52 suspected cases of dengue have been reported in Gurugram and three of them have been confirmed for dengue. The need for such initiatives has never been more critical. Mission Stop Dengue was launched on National Dengue Day, which aims to reduce dengue through continuous, round-the-year activities in a span of three years by engaging RWAs and schools.
